Insensitive

I’m staying at my mother-in-law’s house. My husband and I, are saving money, so we can put a down payment on a house. Until then, I have to work harder to keep the peace around here. Jack gives his mother, money, for us staying at her house. Michelle clearly doesn’t want me here. Things didn’t work out the way she wanted it. My husband Jack, mother’s name, is Michelle, she’s short, chubby and crabby. Jack looks like his late dad, 5’7″, short curly brown hair. Jack doesn’t keep grudges like his mother. I guess you’re curious why Michelle doesn’t like me? I keep asking my husband why. He just laughs it off and said I’m imagining it. Nevertheless, the last time he came home from his trip, he’s a truck driver, he walked right in the middle of her, cussing me out and telling me Jack picked the wrong wife.” “Mom, stop it!” yelled Jack, “Why are you giving Jade such a hard time?” “You’re, asking me why?” replied his mom. I dislike her because of the way you treated Sara., threw her out like a piece of trash. Then decides to marry this one instead. Sara was good for you.” “Number one, Mom, Jade is not Sara. She was all about herself, you have never seen the other side of her. Sneaking around with different guy’s, making up excuses to go over her sister’s Karla apartment. To meet her date for that night. I only found out, when her sister, told me what was going on, about four years ago. That was when Karla, had enough of her being, deceitful. ” Mom, please just leave Jade alone.”

Three months has passed, Jack was away again for his job. Jack told me before he left, he was going to call me, but if you have any more trouble with Mom, call me anytime. I was going to my job every day, we were getting closer, to our down payment on a house that we both loved. Michelle, stayed to herself, which was fine with me. Little did I know, she had something up her sleeve. I found out what it was. A week before Jack was supposed to come home. One day after work, I stopped to get a few groceries, at the market, which I normally did. When I got back to the house, the door was locked. I didn’t have a key, to get in. I rang the door numerous times, then banged on the door. Suddenly, my mother-in-law, looked out her window and yelled “I’m not letting you back in, I’m tired of you telling my son, lies.” I was stunned! “What lies did I tell Jack?” I cried, “Don’t worry, Missy, I’ll think of something” Well, what am I supposed to do with these groceries? I yelled. “You’ll think of something” then she left the window. I sat on the front steps and cried. One thing was on my side, it was the beginning of summer. I called Jack, and told him my situation. He said, “I’m not giving her the satisfaction, of calling her. I’m tired of all her drama. Rent a room, right now, until, I get there. I’ll try and get back as soon as I can, let me know. We’ll get a small apartment when I get back. If you want, drive back to the market and keep, just the things you need. Also, when I get back, we’ll go to the house, and pack all of our things. I’m sorry, my angry mother, is acting this way, you don’t deserve this. When you get settled, give me a call.” “I love you” After he hung up, got in my car, called several motels for a vacancy, luckily there was one vacant, a mile from the house. Drove to the motel, and took care of what I needed to do. There was a small frig and mic in the motel, I just kept what I required. Went back to the market and returned all the things, that wasn’t any use to me now. Called Jack, back, later in the evening, told him where I was located. “That’s great news, babes, see you soon!” The next day, I received a nasty call from Michelle, while being at work. She yelled, “Your and Jack’s things are all packed up, get them as soon as you can. They’ll be thrown in the trash, if you don’t”. Then she hung up. I didn’t call Jack, just wished he would be home soon. Four days later, after getting done work and going back to the motel, I saw Jack, sitting in his car. He got out when he saw me parking next to him. We both hugged and kissed, went inside the room and I told him about the spiteful call from his mother. Jack said tomorrow morning, we can start looking for an apartment, being you are off work for the weekend. The next morning, Jack went online, found an apartment in the next town. We both went to look at it, we both loved it! We made arrangements to rent the place. It is now ours! We cleaned the place up, not that it was dirty, just to our liking. Next, we went over to Jack’s mother’s house. “Oh My!” Jack knocks at the door several times, no answer. He gets his key out and turns to me, says, lets gets this over with before it gets dark, I agree. When we both went in the house, his mother was sitting in the living room watching TV. She looked up and said make it fast, everything is in the bedroom. Jack didn’t want to get disrespectable, so he said nothing. After we loaded both vehicles, with all our things. Jack asked me to stay in my car. He was going back into the house. Before he got to the front door, his mother opened the door with her hand out. She said, “If your finished, I’ll take my key”. Jack took the key out of his pocket and handed it to her. I heard him say, “You are mighty anxious to get Sara back in here.” Then he turned and got in his car.

I’m lost! I’m hungry! I shouldn’t of jumped out that car window.

Although, I thought, I could find a friend, that loves me.

My master, was mean to me, always yelling and kicking at me.

The meanie didn’t even pull over and see if I was hurt.

I guess, if your going to read this. I better tell you my name.

Meanie, called me Bernie, sometimes, he would call me, “Get Out of my Way.”

He said, he found me wandering the streets in the pouring rain, all by
myself.

So he took me home to his house, because, I looked like a wet, little mutt.

He was nice to me at first. He would play with me……then all of a sudden, after he stepped,on my paw. (Ouch!) I growled at him.

That was it for him….then he got mean with me.

I once was happy, but he made me very sad.

Pork Chop and Axel

‘ I was walking through the park, on my way to work. I heard whimpering coming from behind a big round bush. “Who left these puppies here, behind these bushes”? sighed Myrtle, just as she said that out loud, the people that were in the park with their children, ran over to see for themselves. ” Awe”! They gazed at the puppies in a big pen. ” Who could leave these puppies here”? said one of the lookers. Myrtle replied, ” I was just thinking, maybe
someone figured, they would all get a good home because this park is well known for families.” ” That’s a heck of a way to do it—–if this is true, mumbled a young man.” ” Yes that is true, I replied . At least the person or persons who dropped these cute puppies off—- Left them a few toys , also food and water, that’s all over this big pen.” I looked down at my watch , “Oh Gosh”. ” I’m going to be late for work, I’ll be back in a while. “Everyone went back to what they were doing, several children were crying , they wanted a puppy. It sounded like the parent wasn’t haven’t it. Two of the puppies were curled up sleeping, the other two were whimpering and wagging their little tails. ” How Cute” ? I said to the young man still standing , ” Okay let me go, before my boss fires me .” Only kidding .” ” My name is Stan, and yours?” “Myrtle” ” Nice to meet you Stan.” ” I’m going home and see if my grandmother is alright. Will be back to check on these puppies. My grandmother might know who is behind this. Maybe she wants one, have to ask her. ” “Okay” “Like I said before gotta go ! “Hope to be able to come back later, bye !” Stan went back home to his grandmothers house. He told her about the puppies. She said, “they probably belong to the man down the street. He loved his dogs. Joe passed away three weeks ago. Shirley, my next door neighbor, told me the daughter took her fathers two grown dogs home with her. Couldn’t take care of the puppies. She didn’t want to just leave them in the house. Joe didn’t like the kennels for some reason. Joe’s daughter must of left them at the park , knowing some good person would take care of them. Stan ate lunch then went back to the park. The puppies were all sleeping. He waited on the bench close to the puppies for Myrtle. It seemed like hours passed , no Myrtle. Just as he stood up, to stretch. Stan saw the puppies playing with each other, trying to pull on the toy. Later they all ate what was left in their bowl and fell back to sleep, all cuddled up to each other. After a while, Myrtle showed up. Stan told her what his grandmother said. “Oh My” she sighed….” We have to find them homes today. How old do you think they are ?” “My guess , around seven or eight weeks” ” How about you, take two home to your grandmothers house, until you find them homes. I’ll take the other two home to my apartment . I’ve been wanting to adopt
a puppy, but not finding time. Maybe this was meant to be.” Stan was quite, and looked like he was doing some serious thinking. “Well ” “I know my grandmother can’t take care of them, she has trouble getting around. Your taking two home. So I believe, when I go back home. I’ll take them with me, maybe I’ll give one to my nephew, and the other to my daughter.” “Sounds like a plan to me. Your not going to believe this, but I’ve given them names already. The chubby one on the left is Pork Chop, the other one is going to be named Axel.” Myrtle proudly announced. “Nice” Stan replied. As he was taking two of the puppies out of their pen. Let’s take the puppies to their new home.” “Okay Stan, it was nice meeting you, hope to run into you again. You take care of your babies, bye.” Myrtle was carrying Pork Chop, and Axel home talking baby-talk to them.

” Once is Enough “

I stopped in my track’s, Vince had a big smile on his face. Probably because I almost ran into him.
“Hello stranger” he said, “It’s so nice to see you again.” He puts his arms around me, and gives me a kiss on my cheek. I was speak-less, after composing myself, I said. “ Nice to see you again, Vince. ” I was lying through my teeth, my thought came back to me, after being with him for three years. He was such a liar and cheater.
“Do you think it was just an coincidence. That we bumped into each other today, after all this time Krista? Remember this use to be our favorite day?”
“I do!” “Until I found out what a cheating jerk you were?” “Come on Krista, that was eight years ago.”
Without warning it started snowing and the wind was blowing in our faces,my scarf almost blew off my neck. The snow was sticking to the surfaces, because of the cold ground. They both noticed a few people went into the little eatery across the street, to get out of the wind and snow. “I better start walking home before the temperature starts dropping. Ice isn’t good for anyone, said Krista.” “We’re only suppose to get an coating, Vince said. Why don’t we walk across the street and grab a cup of hot coffee for the old times, with a special friend. Then I’ll walk you home.” Krista thought about it for a moment. She knew he had gotten married three months after they broke-up. Also they have two children. She seen them about a couple of months ago walking down the street in town. His wife was holding the baby and he was holding his other child’s hand as they were walking. Krista didn’t think they saw her, she quickly disappeared into a doorway. What the heck! she thought. We’re only going to have a cup of coffee. ”Okay!”she sigh. Vince grabbed hold of her arm, to help her get across the street. With the temperature dropping, plus the winds blowing we were both sliding on the surface of the street. When they finally entered the eatery, their were just a few people inside. We sat at the counter and ordered coffee. The counter person came back with the coffee, and asked us if we would like anything else. Vince said to the lady behind the counter, “Your new here?” “ Yes I am, almost an week today.”she chuckled. The woman was around our ages,in our thirties. Long dark brown hair and tall and lanky. She said.”My name is Denise, do you and your girlfriend or wife come in here often?”” First of all, Krista is just a friend, my name is Vinny, nice to meet you Denise.” Just as he finished talking, a customer called her over and asked for a refill. “Be back she told him.” Vince had a big grin on his face, just like old times. “Wow” “ Didn’t you tell me maybe 15 minutes ago, you changed ? You have never changed. I’ve been sitting here listening to you both, like I’m invisible. You both must like a superficial relationship. My subconscious told me to just go home. Again I didn’t listen.”
“Why don’t we sit here and drink our coffee and chat?”replied Vince. “ I thought we could, nevertheless, here she comes again.” “Hon”, can I get you and your friend another hot cup of coffee?” “Sure” answered Vince. “ I don’t care for any more, thanks any way I muttered.” I got up off the stool, looked for the ladies room in the back. “ I’ll be right back Vince.” Denise and Vince continued their conversation, didn’t even notice me getting up. When I came out of the ladies room, Denise was sitting next to him. They both were laughing, I guess she is a good-time girl. Without hesitation, I took my scarf out of my coat pocket and put it around my neck, and button my coat. Walked over to the counter, and said my good-by.” I’m glad we had that conversation about how you changed.” “Next joke!” “Wait Krista” he yelled. I turned around and said,”Don’t forget to tell your wife and kids, I said hello.” I walked outside into the snowy weather and thought got ya!

” Things Do Come Back “

I have to tell you a story about a person named , “Trouble”   Also known as Ginger Hoot.

She  earned that name, from people that know her.

Every time she opens her mouth, she always has something nasty,to say, about anyone.

I truly believe……she enjoys…..making people, fight amongst, each other.

Ginger,is in her forties, tall and thin, like a french fry. Blue eyes, and flowing long, blonde hair.

She is divorced, after her husband, found her in bed with another man, when he came home early  from work.

Little  did, Ginger know, someone, was waiting for her to screw-up again.

Her name is Rebecca,to her friends, they call her Becca.

In her late fifties,  petite, green eyes, with brown curly hair, pulled back behind her ears.

She was married once happily, until Ginger, asked her ex., for a ride home.

They both worked at the court house, in Central  County, PA.

Afterward,  Becca got suspicious  of her ex .,  Brian.

He was all of a sudden, having meetings for work, one night a week.

On one of these  nights, Becca called out of work, where she worked as a manager,at a deli.

She waited until he left that night, for a meeting………….she followed him.

Becca’s gut feelings,  paid off.

Her ex  pulled  into the parking lot, at a  motel,  next to another car.

This motel is about five miles, from their house in the town of Slur.

Brian got out of his vehicle, when the car door open, next to him.

When he walked over to the car, a woman got out.

They then embraced and kissed .

Becca recognized the woman right away.

The blonde bitch, trouble maker, as she called her.

Becca darted out of her car, that was across the street, from the motel.

She yelled,  “You Slut”.

Both were shocked  to see her.

Once Becca got closer, she gave Ginger, a left-hook in the face.

Of course, Brian stood up for Ginger.

He put his arm around her, so Becca couldn’t hit her again.

That happened five years ago, and Becca said she would get even with the slut.

Like a small town, everybody knows your business.

Slur, was no different…….they all loved gossip!

The latest news was about Ginger.

Ginger fell in love, with a new  guy, that moved in town, about two years ago.

They were planning to get married soon.

None of this news got back to Becca, which was very unusual.

The people in Slur, thought, she already went through enough….with her divorce.

She didn’t need to hear about the woman who crushed her marriage.

Unbeknownst  to Becca, Ginger’s future husband, Tim, who frequently came into the deli where Becca worked.

They became good friends, and talked to each other like they been friends for years.

Tim and Becca, seemed to have a lot in common.

He told her he was seeing someone, but didn’t mention any name.

Tim also told her that he has been divorced, for six years.

Tim,was around her age, average height, muscular built, with black hair, combed in the back, like a D.A.

Did I forget to mention, thick eye-lashes,and sexy green eyes.

Tim was coming in more  frequently, when he figured out  her break time.

When she was on her break, he would sit down with her at a table,  they just talked and laughed about everything.

She secretly fell in love with him, because they were so much  alike .

Becca had mentioned to Tim months ago, that she had a birthday coming up in May.

Tim kept that thought in the back of his mind.

Ginger and Tim,weren’t getting along, as they were.

Always arguing about smalls things, but Ginger really loved him,and tried to make everything right.

But when they went out together,he always seemed to have his mind somewhere else.

Tim didn’t tell her, that he was having seconds thoughts about their wedding.

He knew that, when he was with Becca, everything seemed right.

She was more down to earth, than Ginger, who would put on an act, like she was better than everyone else.

Tim loved her before, but didn’t see what a selfish person she was.at the time.

He also knew he suddenly fell out of love with her, the moment he met Becca.

Their was something about Becca,he couldn’t explain.

The more he seen her,the more he wanted to be with her.

Tim had to make up his mind soon, because the wedding was right around the corner.

It wasn’t going to be a big wedding, which Ginger wanted, just a small church wedding ,with a few friends  they  invited.

A month went by, and Tim finally got the nerve to call the wedding off.

Ginger knew it was coming, she  started, crying and screaming . “Get the hell out of my life”.

Tim never brought up the ending of the relationship to Becca.

He thought it was best, at that time.  Who knows, what’s on Ginger’s mind.

Mean while, three months has passed.

Ginger kept calling and texting Tim,and following him around.

He had to change his number, and report to the police,he was sick and tired of her following his every move.

May finally came around,…… Tim asked Becca, if  she wanted to  go out to dinner with him for her birthday.

She was stunned, but happy.

“What about the person you are seeing?”

“I’m not seeing anyone,any more.”

Becca was bursting inside with happiness.

“Okay, then the answer is sure, why not.”

Becca was inquisitive, about his relationship

Tim told Becca, that he was suppose to  marry Ginger soon.

“He loved Ginger, but not as much as he loved her.”

Becca couldn’t believe her ears.

“Ginger who?”

“Ginger Hoot, do you know her ?”

Smiling she said, “That’s not important! ”

Becca thought, now is the time,to give her a taste of her own medicine.

” Who Knows ? “

Everyday……….I wonder…………. what if, she, was still living.

How would the circle treat her? Their are a few that are in their own world.

Trying to be better, than the other person………this is not good !

Those few people, should of walked in her shoes.

Maybe………….they would of understood…what made this person tick.

I can imagine, everybody getting along.

Everyone, being happy for each other.

That isn’t so much to imagine, is it?

Sometimes when someone is angry, there is a reason behind it.

Who knows, what is going on in someones life?

They may be living far away, or just around the corner, who knows?

What is lacking here, is compassion, in our lives for everybody.

Not feeling like your better, than the next person.

Maybe someday…………. you’ll be the one….. on the outside of the circle.

” One Day ”

In a little town where I grew up, which is called, Turata, in the state of Pennsylvania.

I was taking a walk, as I usually do.

Fall, is my favorite season, so this evening,  the surroundings was like a image on a card.

cat-in-autumn-wallpaper

As I was crossing  Printo Street.  I saw this beautiful young lady looking up at  a tree calling out.

“My Baby!”   “Please come down!   “Please Pumpkin, before you fall!

I looked up, and a cute orange and white kitten, was meowing….. louder and  louder.

“How did your kitten get up their?”

“My father hates cats!”   “He chased Pumpkin outside, and  she was scared.”

“Before I knew it, my baby was up in the tree. Could you please try and help me get her down?”

“I don’t know……..I’ll try!” I replied

I approached the tall tree,  looked up,and then looked back at the young  lady.

She was standing back toward the street, so she could see her kitten.

This person, I don’t know her name yet .  Is just beautiful, short and slender, with long light brown hair, pushed back into a pony-tail.  I can’t forget her big, sad brown eyes.

I better, at lease try, to help…….here I go……climbing the tree my foot was slipping a couple of times.

When I finally climbed up far enough to reached for the meowing kitten and pick her up.

Pumpkin went right on down  purring, the whole time I was holding her.

Once I reached the sidewalk, she took the kitten out of my hand, and cuddled and kissed it.

“Thank you,so much!  I don’t even know your name. Mine is Britta, what’s yours ?”

“Nice to meet you Britta!”  “My name is Anson.”

“Nice to meet you Anson.”

“My father and I are new to this neighborhood. We moved from Ohio, after my mother passed away.

My older sister Ann, just moved out of the house, not long after that.

My father Harry didn’t want to  stay in Ohio . ”  “Just to many memories.” he said

“Matter-of-fact, he wanted me to get rid of Pumpkin, before we left.”

“But I couldn’t.”

“My sister Ann, had a beautiful white cat named “Snow Rose”  Who was hit and killed by a truck, not long after Pumpkin was born.”

“So you see, I just couldn’t.”

“Why doesn’t your father like Pumpkin?”

“Like my father said, to many memories.”

“Okay Anson! ” “Enough about me,what about you ?”

“Their isn’t that much to say.”

“Oh come on…don’t be shy Anson. ” she laughed

“Okay Britta,where should I start ?”

“Anywhere, you like.”

“I grew-up in this little town , I have a sister  Nancy, who is three years older than me. She is thirty-two, and married her love, after she finished college. They live in New York, where he is from, and have one child.”

“My father passed away, when I was ten, my mother remarried five years ago,and lives in New Jersey.”

“I married, right after high school, which was stupid.”

“We both went to different colleges, she found someone she loved more than me………… after two years,we were divorced.”

“I’d like to hear more Anson, but I better get Pumpkin home.”

“Here’s my cellphone number,Britta.  If you want someone to talk to, call.”

As she took the small piece of paper, I written on.

She said, ” I will! ”  “Thanks again”

I stood their until she was out of sight.   Wow!  I thought! Hope I see her again’

It seemed like a long walk home.

When Britta walked in her house, carrying Pumpkin.  Her father Harry was sitting in his big chair as usual, with his can of beer.

He is six foot, with a big beer belly.bald head, and needed a shave.

“What are you doing with that kitten? Get it the hell out of here now. You can leave with it,it’s your choice.”

“But dad!”

“No buts !”  he yelled, ” Now!”

With tears in her eyes, she picked pumpkin up, opened the front door, and slammed the door shut.

“I’ll  fix  this kitty, I”ll go around back and put you in the basement.”

When Britta came back in,she was still crying.

“Your mean dad! ”

“I wish mom was still living.”

“Young lady, as long as, you are under my roof, your going to listen to me.”

“No wonder Ann left, she said you were mean to.”

“You go and call your Aunt Anna, and ask her if you can stay with her.”

In two years, you’ll be eighteen, until then,  I’m the mean father.”

“Now go upstairs and call her.”

Britta flew up the stairs, and picked-up the phone, and started dialing.

The phone was busy, so she waited a few minutes, and called again.

” Hello Aunt Anna.”

“Hello dear, is something wrong?  Because I know your dad, doesn’t want you to call me.”

“I know Aunt Anna….he is still drinking and being mean all the time. He told me to call you and ask you, if I can stay with you.”

“Oh My!”  “Yes Britta you can stay with me.”

“Thanks Aunt Anna, can I bring my kitten Pumpkin ?”

“No, I’m sorry, you can’t,my dear. I’m allergic to cats.”

“Oh gosh what am I going to do? ” “I can’t leave him with dad.”

“Find a friend as soon as you can, tell them your situation. I’m sure someone will come to your rescue.”

“I have a friend that I just met,his name is Anson, he likes cats. Maybe he will take care of her.”

“Alright dear, pack your belonging, and I’ll pick you up tomorrow afternoon. Please don’t bring the cat.”

“Okay Aunt Anna, I’ll call you tomorrow when I’m ready. Thank You! Good bye.”

“Britta was happy to get out of this house. She walked down stairs,to tell her father.

When Britta reach the bottom steps, she knew something was wrong with her dad.

He was slumped over the side of his big chair, Britta checked his pulse, and she couldn’t find it.

She ran upstairs and called 911……the ambulance, and E.M.T.’s came, nevertheless, they couldn’t save her dad.

Britta cried for her mom and the dad that she remembered, before her mom died.

She called her Aunt, and told her about her dad.

“Call your friend dear, and find a home for the cat. I wouldn’t want you to leave the cat in the house by itself.”

“I’ll call Anson, and call you back.”

“I am so sorry for you dear, call me back.”

Britta hung the phone up and cried so hard, she couldn’t believe this is all happening.

When she finally got herself together.

She found Anson’s number and called him.

Britta called me that night, and gave me the bad news.

“I felt so sad for her.”

Furthermore she told me about Pumpkin, and I didn’t need another animal to take care of.

But,Butch my miniature beagle probably would like the company ,while I am working.

After that thought,I told her, I’ll pick Pumpkin up and bring her home with Butch.

Britta was laughing and crying at the same time.

“Thank You So Much..you are a good person.”

After Britta gave me her address,I told her I would be over in an hour.

Britta called her Aunt back, and told her the good news.

Aunt Anna was happy for her.

“I’ll be over soon, pack your things up…I have a surprise for you.”

“I can’t wait Aunt Anna.”

“Great dear,see you than.”

Not long after that ,I arrived at Britta house. When she opened the door with Pumpkin in her arms, and tears in her eyes.

She said, “Please take him, before I change my mind.”

“I gave her a hug after I took Pumpkin out of her arms.”

On the way home, Pumpkin was scared, but I told her,her friend Butch is waiting for her.

A couple of days later,Britta called me,and asked how Butch and Pumpkin are getting along.

“Their both  acting  like ,  long lost friends.”

“The surprise my Aunt Anna had for me, was my sister Ann. She was already living with our Aunt.

“Cora”

It is time to move on. Cora is moving in with her boyfriend Russ.

He has been trying, for months, to get her to move in with him.

Cora, finally told him, that,by the end of next month she will.

They have been going together since, the second year of college.

It was a nice three years, having Cora, as a room-mate.

We both have been friends, since middle school.

Cora and I,are both from Citrus City, Pennsylvania. Furthermore, we’re recent graduates, from N.C. College.

Early Saturday morning, when I woke up. The sun was shining in my window.

Birds were perched in the trees singing.

They must be happy with the humidity….. went through my mind.

The bedroom next to mine was quite, Cora must still be sleeping.

“She must of came home late, from her date.” I thought

I didn’t hear Cora, until after I got dressed and went down, into the kitchen.

She was sitting on one of the green and white chairs, with her head down on the kitchen table, sobbing.

Cora was still wearing her tan slacks, with a short sleeve, pink blouse, and her favorite dark brown sandals.

“What on earth, are you crying about?” I shouted

Cora raised her head off of the table. The whites of her brown eyes, were red,as beets. Her short brown hair, was a mess. So was her clothes, kinda wrinkled…..like she slept in her clothes all night.

“Just leave me alone Sara! I’m not perfect, like you!”

“What is that suppose to mean ? I never think of myself,as perfect.”

You,with your perfect blonde hair, always in place, and your slim body.

” You have guys chasing after you all the time. You, Sara! she mumbled, with a sniffle ……don’t have to worry about a date.” ” Never! ”

“I thought you and Russ, were in love ?”

“So did I!”

“Until yesterday after work. We were suppose to go out to dinner.

I left early, to surprise him. I got in my car,and drove to his apartment, thinking, he was still in bed. After working last night.

I was going to knock on his door, but I remembered he gave me a key,in case, he lost his.

Which he does, quite often.”

Then Cora started sobbing again.

“So what happened, that was so bad?” I asked

“Let me compose myself first. Can’t you see it hurts? You could care less….you just want to hear a story.’ Cora sobbed

“You have a nerve!” I yelled

“I’m not the one crying, like a nut, you are.”

She raised her arms above her head, with her hands in a fists.

Who Would of Thought That ?

One summer evening, in the little town of Weals. Betty was sitting on her back porch reading.

She put her book down, and waited for the noise to stop.

The dogs,a couple of houses down, were barking consistently.

They have been barking, ever since their next-door neighbors moved, last week.

Their owner seems to have to bring them into the house to quite them.

Betty is short, with curly white hair. Her husband passed away five and a half years ago.

Her grown children, have moved on with their own lives, out of Pennsylvania.

That said, Betty has been living quietly by herself with Susie, her cat.

As Betty picked up her thriller book, that she was reading.

She thought she heard a cat meowing.

Betty looked under her side table next to her.

“Look at you Susie, you’re in la,la, land.”

“I must be hearing things, this book must be getting to me.”

thought Betty, as she smiled at the cat.

The next night, she went back out on her porch, to read.

Susie jumped on Betty’s lap, like she did as a kitten.

Susie has big grey spots, all over her white body.

On the tip of her tail, she has a brown spot.

Betty and her late husband, fell in love with Susie, right away, twelve years ago, at the S.P.C.A.

The dogs started barking again, it seemed louder than usual.

The two dogs, looked like they were barking at the back door next to the yard.

I wonder if there is someone in the empty house,Betty thought.

That’s just a crazy thought, but who knows, crazy things goes on,she said to herself.

After about two hours of reading, Betty put her book down.

“Let’s go in the house and go to bed, Susie.”

Betty stretched and Susie followed.

The following morning, Betty made a cup of coffee, trying to wake up.

She walked out on her back porch,as a dog from the next yard was barking,at the window, in the empty house.

The brown dog, from the neighbor near by, must have gotten out from his yard.

Something must be wrong in the house. Betty said to herself.

“I’m going to call the police, and see what is going on.” she said out loud.

Betty called the police and explained what’s happening.

The fellow on the phone said, he would send an officer over.

Betty gave the fellow on the phone, the address of the empty house, and thanked him, before she hung up.

Betty waited on her porch, until she seen the police car pull up,about an hour later.

Betty walked over to the house, where the police just got out of their car.

Stella, the neighbor next door from the empty house came out of her house.

“What’s going on?” yelled Stella

“This lady called us,she thinks someone is in the empty house.”replied the officer.

“I know my dogs have been barking, since the people moved out,a week or so ago.”

“They’re really, aren’t barkers.” sigh Stella

Before the police stepped on the front porch. This brown dog,ran to the front door of the empty house, and was sniffing under the door.

“Who dog is this? said the officer

“One of my dogs, Flo. She must have gotten out of the yard somehow.” replied Stella.

“Everybody stand back,we’re going to have to break the door down. We tried to get in touch with the owner of the house. ”

“The woman who answered the phone, said she hasn’t seen Mr. Ply for three months, since he moved out.”

” Help me open this.” one officer said to the other officer.

When the door was finally opened.

“Everyone stay on the sidewalk, until we check this place out.”

Flo darted inside the house.

When the officers went into the kitchen, they seen Flo licking the face of a brown puppy, about maybe five months old.

Curled up next to the puppy, was a kitten, all white.

They both seem okay, nevertheless, they were hungry, and needed water.

The animals were carried out to the police, Flo stayed behind the police wagging her tail.

“The puppy is one of Flo’s. How dare those people leave these animals behind.” sighed Stella

Betty said, Can I take the kitten home with me?

“No you can’t.” replied the officer

“They have to be checked out by the vet.

You can call the S.P.C.A., next week,to see if they’re ready for adoption.

A week later, Betty and Stella, went out to the S.P.C.A, and Betty adopted the white kitten. Stella of course, adopted the puppy.

When Stella took the puppy home, Flo was happy to see her puppy again.

Betty already told Susie, that she was bringing a surprise back.

When Susie seen the white kitten, she started purring, and started washing the kitten. You could tell the kitten was contented also,by the way she was curled up next to Susie, sleeping.

” You Never Know ”

Foreman and Mia,have been married for ten years.

They brought a nice house in Bestrewn, Pennsylvania. Both have great jobs,

Mia is a school teacher, teaching first grade. Foreman is a manager at the local bank,in town.

They have no children,…Forman and Mia have tried for years. They both

went to a specialist,to get test after test. But after all the different

testing,the specialist’s couldn’t come up with a reason they couldn’t.

Which made them very unhappy.

Mia and Forie, which Mia called him for his pet name. Decided, they both should have a social night out alone. Him with the guys, and her with the gals.

“Mia,I think by doing this, we’ll both get a break from each other. All we been doing,is getting on each others nerves.”

“Yes Forie, your probably right. With all this drama, for no reason.”

That was a year ago.

Mia,is petite,in her early thirties. Long blonde hair, green eyes, and slender.

Her Forie, is in his late thirties, average height, and weight. Medium brown hair, which is cut short, and squared off in the back.

The next day after work, Mia went to the market,to pick a few things up

that she needed for the week. As she started to get out of her car,to go

into the market. She noticed a friend of the family ,Betty. Who was

walking out of the market with a couple of bags in her cart.

Betty was in her sixties, tall, with short grey hair. She was a close friend of Mia’s late mother.

Mia walked toward Betty. who’s hand was clasped over her mouth.

“Mia!” I haven’t seen you since your mom passed.

What’s that been six years?”

“Wow ,it’s been a long time, Betty”

“I’ve seen Foreman a couple of times, where I work part-time. I’ve seen him with a dark hair woman. They were carrying on, like two teenagers. You and Foreman are separated?”

Mia’s eyes lite up, her face was the color of a ghost. With tears racing down her face.

Betty embraced Mia.

“Oh Mia!” “I am so sorry!”

“I didn’t think, before I opened my big mouth. I feel so bad.”

When Mia finally composed herself. She wiped her face with her hand.

“No we’re not separated, nevertheless,it answers a lot of questions. He has been acting strangely, lately.”

“Furthermore, I’m not going to ask you where you work. I’ll get to the bottom of this, tonight.”

Mia then just turned around, and said goodby to Betty.

Betty stood there, and watched Mia back her car up, and speed away.

On the way home, Mia couldn’t believe, what was happening.

I know he has be moody.I blamed his work, with all his responsibilities.

But I was wrong, he isn’t happy with me.

When Mia pulled into her driveway, Foreman’s truck was already parked out
front, which was strange.

Because he wasn’t expected home, for another two hours.

Mia got out of her car,and slammed the door shut.

She ran in the house to confront her husband of ten years.

He was sitting in his big chair,in the living room. Reading a newspaper.

“Guess who I ran into today, Foreman?

“I don’t give a dam,who you ran into today. I left work early today, because, I’ve been wanting to get something off my chest.”

“Oh you have,how nice!”

“Let me speak!”

Excuse me, dam it!”

“I want a divorce, Mia.”

“Well, well, you want a divorce. By any chance, does it have to do with your dark hair hussy?

“Her name is,Josephine,and she’s not a hussy.”

“I told her, that I wasn’t married. At first, it was just a night out. I fell in love,it just happened.”

“So now you want a divorce from me. Your just tossing me away like trash, after ten years of marriage. cried Mia

“I didn’t plan this, we were slowly pulling away from each other.sighed Foreman.

“Maybe you, Forman.”

“Don’t make it any harder. Josephine told me three weeks ago, that she was carrying our baby.”

Shocked to what Forman just said to her. Mia grabbed a lamp, and threw it at him. Fragments of the lamp, was scattered all over the living room.

“Get out of this house now, you’ll get your dam divorce. Don’t come back, ever.” cried Mia

Foreman snatched his keys off the table, and flew out the door, slamming it.

Mia watched him pull away, and cried herself to sleep.
